Manufactured homes, or (HUD) homes, are built to a federal standard building code. The federal construction safety standard act, or (HUD/CODE), went into effect in 1976. Since that time the federal standards regulate all design, construction, heating and electric systems, energy efficiency, quality and more.
This standard is adjustable to account for the region or climate in which the home will be placed. A third party inspector will inspect each home to confirm it is compliant with the required building, safety, and quality standards. Once inspection is approved, a HUD certification will be attached to the home.
